Looking at Types of Child Abuse - 1768 Words

â€Å"Childhood should be carefree, playing in the sun; not living a nightmare in the darkness of the soul.† This quote is from Dave Pelzer’s novel, A Child Called â€Å"It†. This quote is referring to, the idea that a child should feel like he/ she could do anything in their childhood, without worrying about any problems going on in the world or in his/her parents lives. Child abuse has been happening worldwide for many years and still is. For this reason, the desire to prevent this issue can be realized through the aid of organizations such as CAPA (Child Abuse Prevention Association) as well as through the awareness of the education system. What most people realize, is that this issue has been kept hidden from the government as well as from the public. One may say this is due to the fact that the children being abused are too scared to speak about it. In fact, child abuse is a common and tragic fate and 81.2% of child abuse cases are committed by someone the c hild knows, usually a family member (Child Abuse Statistics and Facts). There are many different forms of child abuse such as: physical, emotional, neglect and sexual abuse. Starting with physical abuse, according to dictionary.com, physical abuse is â€Å"an act of another party involving contact intended to cause feelings of physical pain, injury or other physical suffering of bodily harm†.
